The New York Jets are 1-0.

Say that again.

After everything this organization went through last season, starting the 2026 season with a win was exactly what the Jets needed. They went into Tennesse, played physical football, ran the ball effectively and allowed their defense to control the game in a 23-10 victory over the Titians.

But now comes the Packers.

The Green Bay Packers are coming to MefLife Stadium for the Jets’ home opener this Sunday, and this game gives New York an opportunity to prove that Week 1 was more than just a nice start.

The Packers Are Coming Off a Collapse

Green Bay’s Week 1 couldn’t have gone much differently.

The Packers led Minnesota 22-10 late in the third quater before the Vikings scored 29 unanswered points to win 39-22.

Jordan Love still threw for 387 yards and two touchdowns, while Christian Watson caught six passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns. So this isn’t a Packers team that suddenly forgot how to move the ball.

They just couldn’t finish the job.

And that might make Sunday even more important for the Jets.

Green Bay will be pissed off coming into MetLife. They’re coming into New Jersey trying to avoid 0-2, while the Jets are trying to start 2-0 for the first time since 2015.

Don’t Make This Bigger Than It Is

It’s only Week 2.

There are still 15 games after Sunday

A win doesn’t guarantee anything, and a loss dosen’t end the season.

But this game, just like certain games in a season, will tell you a lot about a team. The Jets are here to take care of business, the same way they did with the Titians.

And if they can walk out of there Sunday after noon 2-0, the conversation around the league changes how the Jets will be talked about.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m. Sunday on Fox.
